5 Ways “Seeking First” Can Support Your Homeschool
Are you new to homeschooling and looking at how to get started? Or are you a veteran homeschooler always on the lookout for new engaging activities and resources? Seeking First Homeschool is here to help support all of you! Here are some ways we can help you with encouragement, ideas, and resources on your homeschool journey:
1. Help you get started with homeschooling or transition from public school to homeschool.
Seeking First has resources and printables to support you as you navigate the process of diving into homeschooling! Do you need to find your state’s requirements? Are you trying to understand what it means to deschool? Is the world of homeschool curriculum feeling a bit overwhelming? We can help!
2. Walk you through the different homeschool curriculum styles and methods.
Classical? Charlotte Mason? Unit studies? Eclectic? Unschooling? If all of this terminology makes you feel like you are listening to Charlie Brown’s teacher on the old Peanuts cartoons, no need to fret. We can help break down the different styles so you can determine what may be most beneficial for your child!
3. Support you in finding out what works well for your unique learner.
With so many options out there for structuring your homeschool and selecting curriculum, the decisions can feel a bit overwhelming at times. Seeking First Homeschool is here to help you find out what your unique learner needs to grow academically and find a love of learning. Do you want to determine your child’s specific learning style or preferences? Do you need to differentiate how one of your children learns in comparison to the others without it taking up an extraordinary amount of time? Does your child have special needs that must be considered in your homeschool journey? Getting to know your learner’s strengths, needs, and preferences will go a long way in making your homeschool experience more enjoyable.
4. Provide you with resources and curriculum options that are engaging, practical, and affordable.
Have you seen homeschool curriculum that is really pretty to look at but difficult to navigate? Have you heard about curriculum options that require a plethora of books (like student workbooks, teacher’s guides, assessment books, etc.) for every subject? Have you encountered a program that makes your eyes light up but simultaneously terrifies your wallet? We believe that homeschool curriculum should be enjoyable and engaging for the learner (even if they don’t learn in the most traditional ways) and practical for the parent (so maybe not 8 different books that you need to coordinate just to get through first grade math). We also believe that it should be affordable. Homeschooling should not be out of reach because of finances. Our curriculum is in the form of digital printables, allowing it to be priced affordably and reused for multiple children in your family.
5. Encourage you to “seek first” the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) in your homeschool.
We are called “Seeking First” for several reasons, but the primary one is Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (ESV). Academics are important. Preparing for a career is important. Finding and cultivating strengths in learning is important. But what is “first” always needs to be seeking the Lord. So we are here to encourage you to seek Him first and then allow Him to guide you to everything else you need “added” to your homeschool journey. We have articles, parent resources, and Bible studies to help you keep the first thing first!
We hope you are encouraged as you venture into or continue with your homeschool journey! We would love to be able to support you along the way! Stay tuned to this blog for additional articles and resources on all of the topics mentioned above 😉
